Pastoralia examines the hypocrisies and contradiciton of corporate culture. The story uses memos, jargon, employee evaluations, and other hallmarks of business to absurd effect by juxtaposing them with a mock-primative, theme-park enviornment and dramatic personal conflicts. To develop a deeper understanding of corporate culture in general, and theme parks in particular, I researched specific theme parks (Disney World, Six Flags) and the psychology of corporate structure. I also read about work life balance as this was one of the main aspects of corporate culture the story addressed.
