The main character is Jaden. She is a shy, quiet girl with dark hair. She is afraid of her dad, although they do share a love of meteorology. Since Jaden's parents are divorced, Jaden goes to visit her dad over the summer in Placid Meadows.
Alex is another character who lives just outside of Placid Meadows. He has black hair and dark brown eyes. He lives on a farm with his parents, dog, and sister. When he meets Jaden, he likes her immediately, though dislikes Jaden's dad (strongly) because he keeps trying to buy Alex's family farm. Alex shares Jaden's love of meteorology.

Summary
When Jaden goes to Placid Meadows to live with her dad over the summer, she is promised that she will be safe inside the gates of Placid Meadows through all storms, even the strongest ones. While Jaden is there, she goes to a camp called Eye on Tomorrow, a camp that teaches kids to begin to make a difference in the future world. At the camp, she meets a boy named Alex who lives on a farm.... outside of Placid Meadows. Together, Jaden and Alex find a deep secret about Jaden's dad that changes themselves...and something much, much bigger.

This story takes place in the summer of 2050. The characters live in Oklahoma County and Logan county in Oklahoma. Most of the events happen at Alex's farm, Stormsafe co., Jaden's house, Eye on Tommorrow camp, and Aunt Linda's house.

I would give this book 5 stars. It is a great book about family,storms, and science. People who would enjoy this book are people who like to read about storms & family.

Theme
The theme of Eye of the Storm is to never judge a book by it's cover. I know this is the theme because Jaden's dad seems like a really nice, trustworthy person. However, according to the secret that Jaden and Alex uncover, Jaden's dad could actually be a diobolical scientist.
