Renewable Energy

Noah Aldridge

Sørensen, B. (2017). Renewable energy: physics, engineering, environmental impacts, economics and planning. London, United Kingdom: Academic Press is an imprint of Elsevier.

Primary Source

1

The purpose of this source was to provide an insight on what kinds of renewable energy sources are out there. The source is trying to accomplish a way to explain what renewable energy is.

This book is about the basic scientific principles behind all major renewable energy resources, such as solar, wind, and biomass. It explores how these raw renewable sources can be converted into useful forms, transmitted into the grid, and stored for future utilization as well as the aspects of energy planning, environmental impacts, and socio-economic issues on regional and global levels.

2

The approach the source used was to inform what types of energy resources there was. They found the main points by doing research on each energy source. I also did my research into the energy sources and provide extra information.

3

This source is credible because the author of the book, Sørensen is a well know author who has studied his craft. He is credible person to take advice and resources from. He’s known not to be wrong and has correct insight on the renewable energy problem.

4

This source links to my topic because it is talking about what kind of renewable energy sources there are out there. It’s appropriate because it is really talking about what I’m trying to covey to my audience That renewable energy is the future and we need to start caring.

Academic Article

The purpose of this source is the highlight how batteries can be used in remote areas and cities to power the grid. The source also talks about why using batteries is so beneficial for the future

1

The source finds out why using traditional methods of energy is becoming increasingly dangerous and gives an alternative to the growing problem. The main argument is using batteries which is a form of renewable energy will prolong the life of human

2

The approach the article used was using a good real-life example on why batteries are helping remote villagers. They went out and interviewed real people to see the overwhelming benefits of the batteries

3

4

The reason this source it was so credible was because it was originally written and researched by the college of Bharati Vidyapeeth in India. The college then transferred their findings to the Turkish Journal and they put the research online for the world to see. The Turkish Journal itself is also very credible.

This source links to my topic because it talks about one of the many extensions of renewable energy. It also mentions how fossil fuels are not suitable to use anymore and we as a species needs to move to something new.

Other Source

1

The purpose of the source is to highlight the cost the cost of renewable energy rescores such as solar panels. The source is trying to inform the overall cost and work it would take to create new power plants using renewable energy.

2

The source found out the exact cost of energy cost it would take to make a switch from traditional energy sources to new energy resources. The argument that advances is that in the long run renewable energy will cost less and long much longer than the traditional methods

The source approached this topic by provide statistics of the overall costs and figures of the growth expected by an increase in demand of renewable energy. This source uses pathos a lot and it’s also make a hint of logos as well.

3

The credibility of the source is solid. The journal is well known in the science community and is respected by many. Renewable energy focus is a huge science journal resource and provide up to date information on new creations on energy.

4

5

The source relates to my topic because it explains the financial risks and benefits of renewable energy. What it comes down to for most ideas is cost. So, including something about the cost of renewable energy just seemed logical for this speech.
