I have so many good memories that I like to think back on, but I also have plenty of bad memories that I'd rather forget. One of my good memories is the road trip my family and I went on to Disney World. I had a lot of fun walking through all four parks and riding as many roller coaster as I could. Another one of my good memories is when I won first place for my floor routine for the first time ever and was rewarded with gold medal in front of everyone. However, you can't have good memories without bad ones. One my bad memories is when I was bullied at my old school for not thinking the way that they did about politics. They left me out of stuff and I didn't have any friends my whole eighth grade year. Another of my bad memories is when I tried a back flip on my porch. I hit my head on the concrete and almost had a concussion. Now, every time I think about that incident, I feel like I'm reliving the pain I felt when it actually happened.
I used to know what I wanted in the future, but now I'm not so sure. I know for sure that I want to try out for the drill team and become a Georgette. I also know that I want to go to a university, though I'm not sure which one. I've always dreamed of going to Baylor University ever since I was a little girl because I did gymnastics and they have an acrobatics and tumbling team. However, I'm not in gymnastics anymore so I'm not sure if that's something I want to still do. I've also considered Duke University because I think I want to be a lawyer and Duke has an exceptional law program. My uncle went to Duke and my dad's favorite basketball team is Duke so I think they both want me to go there. My mom wants me to go to Baylor because It's been my dream for my whole life. I'm torn because I don't know what I want. Hopefully, God will help me make the right decision.
Ever since I was old enough to speak, I have had a love for gymnastics. Watching Gabby Douglas compete in the Olympics made me want to be just like her. I would do cartwheels and rolls around the house which made my parents want to put me into gymnastics. I quickly moved up, level after level, until I was on team. Once I was on team, I trained Mon-Fri from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-1:30 p.m. The pressure hit me when it was time for me to jump from the low bar to the high bar. Because of my fear of heights and the resignation of the only coach I truly trusted, I quit. I was heart broken. I tried going to other gyms, but it just wasn't fun anymore. However, I will remember the good times, and I will use the work ethic that I learned in gymnastics in school.
The people in family are the most important people in the world to me. I live with my mom, my dad, my twenty-two year old sister, and my eleven year old sister. They are always there to support me and reassure me when I doubt myself. My parents are always there to comfort me when I'm at my worst. My sisters are always there to listen to me talk about the stuff I can't tell my parents and help me out when I make a mistake no matter how big. I enjoy spending time with them because they make me laugh a lot, especially my mom. It is really fun playing board games with them also, because my mom and my dad get super competitive. I love going on long road trips with them because we get to spend quality time with each other and talk about life. I always put my family before anyone else, including my friends. At the end of the day, your family is the only one that has your back.
Ever since I was little, I have always loved dancing, not because I was good at it, but because it was fun. I danced around as a little toddler and when I was old enough, I joined the praise team at my church. I loved performing on Sundays. I took dance classes at my elementary school as well and danced in school productions. I took contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop. Unfortunately, my school closed down so I had to find another place to take dance classes. Because of this I had to stop dancing for a while. This year, however, I was able to find a dance studio. I was super excited to sign up for the hip-hop class. I'm in that class currently and i am anticipating our upcoming recital. I will also be trying out for drill team on May 4th.
