The Murray Darling river flows through huge mountains, long plains, and farmland. The Murray Darling River goes through the towns: Albury, Wodonga, Echuca, Swan Hill, Mildura, Renmark, and many more.

The Murray Darling River starts where the Culgoa river and Barwon river meet, in the Australian alps. Both of these rivers are located in the middle of New South Wales. Other tributaries of the Murray river include: Darling, Murrumbidgee, Mitta Mitta, Ovens, Goulburn, Campaspe, and Loddon rivers.

History
The river was formed 40 million years ago through the forces of water and geophysical uplifting.
Before European settlers arrived many aboriginal groups including the Ingalta, Moorundie, Goodwarra, Parrian-kaperre, Tongwillum, and Yoorlooarra relied on the river’s abundance.
The river was discovered by European explorers Hamilton H. Hume and William H. Hovell in 1824.
During the second half of the 19th century, river shipping was of great importance. Paddle steams used to transport carry wool, wheat, and other goods. The arrival of the railroad ended this era.
Irrigation was introduced in 1887 by Canadian George Chaffey and is still supporting agriculture today. Millions of people still rely on the river as a source of water today.

There are many challenges that the Murray Darling river and basin face. Higher population in the Murray Darling Basin and River is bad because the river won't be able to supply the growing population of the basin. Climate change is also a huge problem for the River. It raises the temperature of the water and can end the lives of many animals. Using too much water is also a massive issue for the river because the wildlife won't have any water to drink from and can die from it.

The Murray Darling river faces many problems which are similar in other areas around the world. Climate change is one of the biggest threats to the Murray Darling river. It heats everything up and causes the temperature in the water to rise which can cause the deaths of many fish and lower the quality of the water.
Bush fires, floods, and droughts are causing devastation. Protecting the environment and avoiding pollution ensures that future generations can still enjoy the rivers of our world. Protecting the rivers is an extremely important thing and something should be done about it.
Fair sharing of the water resources between the environment, agriculture, industry and communities needs to be achieved. Using too much water for farming or personal use is a big problem. If there isn't enough water, animals can't get drinking water and will die which can make some species that rely on the Murray Darling River to be endangered or extinct.
