In English Language there are many ways to express past; Simple past is the EASIEST

Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense is used to tell the stories that have occurred before. For times like Yesterday, two weeks ago,last night, 18th century, last summer etc

Example of the Verb form: wanted, watched, played,closed , lived

Rani's book

Yesterday, Rani got a new book .The book was about animals. Rani loved animals. The book had lots of pictures . It had dogs and cats. It had pictures of cows and pigs. It had pictures of squirrels of birds. She looked at the pictures on first page. Then she turned the page. She looked at the picture on second page.

  • The teacher will create a set of cards with present simple verbs and a set with the Past Simple form of the same verbs
  • cards faced down placed on the desk
  • students take turns to turn over two cards
  • If the two cards match: students has to make a sentence with past simple form and can keep cards
  • in case of failure will keep the cards back.
  • the person with the most cards is the winner
