Herophilus of Alexandria (325-255 B. C.)

Herophilus of Alexandria (325-255 B. C.)

Named the Father of Anatomy, he received his medical training under Praxagoras. Herophilus is known to be the one of the only two people to dissect cadavers during the Renaissance. He only did it for a short period of time though because it was quickly banned.

Hippocrates (129 A.D. – c. 216 A.D.

Hippocrates was one of the "founding Fathers of Medicine" so to speak but he never did dissect a human body because he viewed it as cruel and beacuse he never did dissect a human like Galen he got many things wrong he supossedly even reffered to tendons as "nerves" .

One of the worlds most well known anatomists, never dissected a cadaver because the goverment frowned upon human dissection. He would often dissect animals whos anatomy he thought was similter to humans Vesalius would later prove his finding wrong, because apes and humans are exactly the same.

Leonardo da Vinici drew ideal froms of the human anatomy that would be used for reseach and teaching for 2 centuries. He got a good understanding of the human body by dissecting human cadavers.

Vesalius was a Bugium anatomist who helped change and correct some misunderstandings of the human body and how it worked from ancient times. Vesalius would preform dissections himself and made charts of the blood and nervous system for hs students.

English physician who made contributions in anatomy and physiology first known physician to completely decsiribe the circulation system

spoke downly on body snatching, but yet seeked the recrutement of them and encouraged his students. disected his sister and father and neighbors pets .

Robert Knox (1791-1862)

Knox was the anatomist that bought the bodies that William Hare and William Burke would bring to him, it was later reveled that Hare and Burke would murder the bodies they brought. Before that Knox was a famous lecturer of anatomy.

Over the course of about ten months William Burke and William Hare would go on to murder 16 people to sell the bodies for money. When they were found out Burke was hanged and Hare was dissected, his bones were made into a skeleton.

while Hernandez was looking for recycables to sell he was attacked by guards at a local univercity. Juan Pablo Ordonez was an investigator of the case and said that he was one of many others who also have become a victim for medicine.
