I am with with my archeology team in Egypt. Our mission is to find artifacts from ancient Egypt.
Today my archeology team and I made a facinating discovery. We found an amazing peice of jewelery. It appeared to be made of gold and gems. It looked like two snakes on each side with a gem in a middle. There is designs around the black gem. We found this bracelet in a tomb along with some body of bones and and other artifacts. This bracelet was preserved in a tomb in ancient Egypt.
Is was a hot summer day in Egypt when my team and I came across something that will change our lives forever. We had heard that there were artifacts in this area. We were using metal detectors when all the sudden we hear an very loud beeping noise. My team and I dug and dug as fast as we could until we hit something. We could barely see what it was so we dug around it until we realized what it was. It was a tomb. We took it back to our lab and popped it open and what we saw inside is unimaginable. There were bones and jewelery. But this specific bracelet stood out to me.
This is a primary source. It is a primary source because it was the artifact that was found in the tomb. To figure out the age of this artifact my team and I used radiocarbon dating to see how old the bones were then we used absolute dating to figure out how old the bracelet is. My team and I used these types of dating because they would give us the most accurate answer. You could use this to figure out how old the bones are. We discovered that this artifact was made in 962 B.C.
Interpretations
This bracelet was used by the people of ancient Egypt. It was used by a wealthy person because it was made from gold and gems. The bracelet was made in 982 B.C. This bracelet was very special to this person and that is why they died with it on. This was very special to them because back then snakes were very lucky to people and it symbolized bravery. This person most likely died of an illness and the people burring them put their most prized possessions in the tomb with them.
