Recognizes, exposes, and rewards talented middle and high school young men
Participants receive mentoring, academic support, college readiness advising and attend free social activities.
It doesn’t start at the elementary school level.
Gives a chance for mentors to have a hand in the growth and development of young men who may or may not have positive role models present in their everyday lives.
Shows the community that Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. cares about what happens to the next generation and allows the community to want to get other young men involved in order for them to achieve their scholastic goals and life aspirations.
There are other mentoring programs in our communities, such as: 5000 Role Model, Guide Right, Kappa League, and Omega Gents (some of which start at the elementary level)

Targeting youth starting around 12 years gives young men clarity on misinformation that they would may receive from the sources of media (i.e television and film)
Educating young men about safe sex and having healthy intimate relationships with their partners
The limited age range of young men that are targeted
Lack of Technology and relatable speakers
Mentor young men and groom them to mentor the next generation
To tackle the issue harder in the Richmond Heights and maybe even a couple of joint events with the C.O.P.E. to really drive home the point of safe sex practices.

Supports the national program, “Go to High School, Go to College.”
Meets the mission of the Fraternity to promote academic excellence.
Provides direct financial support to minority high school students who will be attending college.
Not an endowed scholarship program – requires year-round fundraising
Earlier iterations of the program depended heavily on fundraisers.
Fundraisers in South Dade don’t draw large audiences (distance from dense population of professionals, traffic during the weekdays).
Crowdfunding – Create link on IPL website to accept donations for the Education Foundation (or via Givelify, PayPal, etc.).
New partnerships with elected officials who can donate to the education foundation (5 Black Miami-Dade County Commissioners; County Mayor)
Give Miami Day – Allows community members to donate funds on a given day to nonprofits.
Sustainability
Identification of African-American high school students to accept scholarships.

Exemplifies one of the objectives of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated which is to encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood.
Ability/bandwidth to promote the ceremony
Receiving enough nominations to award all four categories (District, Instructional, Administrative, Support Staff)
Not being able to sell enough tickets to the ceremony, which could lead to not making enough profit
Setting goals for number of tickets sold to ceremony
