Food
Rattlesnakes eat lots of different types of food. First they eat rats, lizards, birds and other preys. Second these snakes bite their prey with their sharp fangs. Also their strong venom kills their prey quickly.
Life cycle
First female rattlesnakes can make up to 30 babies. Second babies can hunt right when they are boring. Also some rattlesnakes can live up to 30 years. And finally rattlesnakes can go weeks without food or water.
Fun facts
Rattlesnakes are carnivores (meat-eaters). They hunt rats, mice and small birds usually. Rattlesnakes have special kind of thermal receptors that are used for detection of warm-blooded creatures (their prey). They can also locate prey by using the tongue which collects scent molecules from the air.
Most species live near open, rocky areas. Rocks offer them cover from predators, plentiful prey (e.g. rodents, lizards, insects, etc. that live amidst the rocks), and open basking areas. However, rattlesnakes can also be found in a wide variety of other habitats including prairies, marshes, deserts, and forests.
