Egyptian Era's Floral History

Themes

Flowers were seen along the nile, but the lotus flower symbolized upper Egypt and the papyrus was the symbol of lower Egypt. They close at night, then bloom in the day.

Flowers were used as centerpieces at dinner tables, for asscessories, and to be held at weddings.

Decorations include wreaths, garlands, and chaplets.

Bulb leaves were used to cover the eyes, nose, and mouths for mummification.

Papyrus and lotus flower (white and blue) are the symbolic plant in Egyptian history. (most uses colors white and blue)

Enjoyed colorful petals as well for accessories.

Flowers and Foilage

Flowers were used to symbolize the decreased then rebirth.

Mummy garlands and collars were made with green leaves, palm leaves, and colorful flowers.

Some favorite flowers were roses, poppies, violets, jasmines, lilies, narcissus, and acacias. The lotus blossom flowers are the most sacred.

The lotus was used as perfeme as well.

Wide mouthed vases, jars, and bowls that were made of glass.

There is also baskets, clay, and designer plastic containers. But vases and other types of containers made from glass are used more.

For glass containers they used quartz pebbles with the ashes of burnt plants, heat it, and form it's shape.

In ancient Egpyt, chisels were used as a cutting tool.

The Botanical Island is known for history and beauty. It has a research center where infomation is cruial for flowers and other history.

There also the International Park that presents all sorts of flowers and greenery that grows in Egypt!

Mahmoud Mukhtar is said to be the father of Egyptian art in times of 1800-1900's.

Famous musicans during this time (ancient) were called Alatee

Musicians, writters, and artists used these symbols of flowers in their culture to create art.
