Queen In You (QIY) is a non-profit organization of female collegiate students who dedicate time to train future queens in the areas of professional development, self-esteem, etiquette, scholarship, and service. QIY is located on different college campuses and communities to provide each individual area with the resources and curriculum that QIY facilitates. The purpose is to connect & join with surrounding elementary, middle, and or high schools to mentor young girls and promote women's advancement, professional enhancement, community-service, etiquette training and the social well being of its members through participation in organizational activities such as community service, full body meetings, fundraising, and social events. In monthly meetings, the queens will complete a vibrant curriculum comprised of doing community service to learn the importance of giving back, as well as having etiquette classes, balls, and etiquette dinners. Queen In You’s mentoring program will pair a youth with a mentor and or as a collective group for the academic calendar. During that time, mentoring will be focused on completing the QIY curriculum of professional development, cotillion training and community service activities. Mentors will also receive continuous training throughout the year and will participate in bi-monthly meetings to report the young mentees progress. The organization will showcase to the public and parents of the youth at the end of each semester/season what they have learned throughout the program.
• Professional Development: Professional development includes resume building workshops, book clubs, tutoring, and other academic programs that help each individual youth progress academically while they are enrolled in school.
• Cotillion/Etiquette: Cotillion training will be provided to each youth to prepare them for attending certain events that require etiquette as they progress in life. This trainging will include activities such as, table/place setting, dressing business casual, professional workshops, and etiquette with handling everyday activities of being apart of an outside organization or club.
• Women's Advancement & Cultural Appreciation: There will be workshops and programs geared toward teaching the youth about self-care and the advancement of women and cultural appreciation of oneself and others. They would research different women in or outside of their community to develop projects that exhibit their goals with their personal development.
• Community Service: The importance of community service and giving back to their community will be implemented throughout the whole season of Queen In You. They can either form their own community service activity or join with another organization to complete the community service. If the mentors and mentees opt to join a community service organization, they will be required to provide service one day during the week for the season.
• Establish a strong network with surrounding local academic schools, mentorship organizations, and community service organizations.
• Launch a series of fundraising opportunities that will successfully fund the program that is provided at little-to-no-cost for the mentorship program.
• Establish an ineffective training program for mentors that will increase their ability to be successful communicators.

Self Care

The Bowie State chapter of Queen In You will be using the initiative of self care as a centering topic of discussion while mentoring the middle school girls at Milton Somers. With this initiative, we are aiming to work on the promotion of self care and why it needs to be implemented in their everyday lives. We will introduce various of methods of self care whether it is physical, mental, or emotional in order to ensure that these girls understand that there are different ways of implementing self care and its significance in their lives.
