Quote 2

https://shakespeareandbeyond.folger.edu/2019/10/08/desdemona-emilia-female-friendship-othello/

"'Tis not a year or two shows us a man. They are all but stomachs, and we all but food. To eat us hungerly, and when they are full, They belch us. Look you, Cassio and my husband!" (Emilia 3.4.92-96)

Emilia's comparison of food to woman reveals that she has little faith that the men truly love them. This reveals how the women during this time felt and shows a change in Othello and Desdemona's once strong relationship.

Deception

"I do believe it, and I ask your pardon. Will you, I pray, demand that demi-devil. Why he hath thus ensnared my soul and body?" (Othello 5.2.313-315)

Deception fuels the jealousy within the play that leads to violence. Because of Othello's inability to discover who was deceiving him, Othello suffers heartbreak and jealousy that leads to his death.

After having full trust in Iago, Othello is finally faced the truth that Iago has been the one who has been deceiving him and has ruined his life. He once again compares Iago to a devil just as he compared every other evil before killing himself. This reveals that monsters and hell is constantly seen throughout the play to compare to evils.

Quote 1

"Oh, beware, my lord, of jealousy!

It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock. The meat it feeds on. That cuckold lives in bliss Who, certain of his fate, loves not his wronger, But, oh, what damnèd minutes tells he o'er. Who dotes, yet doubts— suspects, yet soundly loves!" (Iago 3.3.170-176)

Quote 3

Within this quote, Iago is perceived as manipulative because he is resembling his own jealousy that has lead him to become a "monster" this comparison foreshadows how Othello is too fall to the depths of jealousy. By Iago's warning, the reader is to see Othello's character change from respected to making poor decisions based off of his jealousy.

"She was lying even as she was going down to hell. I did kill her." (Othello 5.2.142-143)

Even after he killed her, Othello still believes that Desdemona was unfaithful and has lost all trust in her. Their relationship has drastically changed from strong and trusting to broken and dangerous. Othello's character has changed and developed as he once said he would never kill an innocent soul and yet that is exactly what has happened. This irony reveals the development in Othello's character.
