dISNEY AS A SAFE OPTION

  • Disney may be described as a safe option, due to the trust in the company which people have acquired.
  • Although Disney have a massive amount of films which they make and show, they are all similar to eachother, linking to David Hesmonhalgs theory which would explain this.
  • Also, people will often get nostalgia from watching Disney films, and often the films will bring families together and spark conversation between parents and children.

OWNERSHIP

  • Disney was started by Walt Disney, due to him having a huge passion in that area, which wasn't stopped when he failed.
  • He then joined with his brother to form Walt Disney.
  • He then acquired people based on their personality to play chatacters which were then shaped around the actos e.g Phil Harris playing Balloo.
  • The company then worked to keep the company how he wanted it, therefore making it a positive enviornment in the workplace where people got on.
  • Disney then acquired a massive amount of companies, therefore buying out their competiton and remaning the most dominant company in the film industry

  • Disneys technology has allowed them to keep their domanance in the film indutry.
  • At the launch of the company, Disney offered unique technology development, the Jungle Book 1967 used the multiplane camera technique and cell animation which then in the later version (the 2016 version) changed to CGI.
  • Due to Disney owning the National Geographic, the animals which are in Disney films look insanley realistic, which appeals to an older demographic
  • People now have expectations of the level of technoloigical developments which must be present to keep them engaged, therefore the simple minimal technology which Disney origiallt used is no longer used

  • Disneys ability to get and maintain their audeince is a vital contributer to the success of the company.
  • Originally, Disney was a new, inovative company which offered different products, allowing them to gain audiences quickly.
  • Furthermore, Disney caters to the needs of a wide range of audiences, triggering the making of DisneyWorld, which is perfect for kids and adults.
  • Disney is also able to maintain their audeince due to their dominance in the media, allowing them to converge with companies which are popular, such as McDonalds, Pandora and Snapchat, also showing they lead pop-culture and know what is popular at the time.

  • The marketing of Disney is also a massive contributing factor in their success.
  • Due to Disneys power and the size of their company, they are able to dominate the marketing industry, creating adverts and converging with products that are a part of everyday life.
  • They have such a high production buget for their films allowing them to advertise for their films in a technoloigically inovative way. Films such as Dr Strange, they created a portal which people could enter, similar to the context of the film so people feel like they are in a different universe.
  • Also, Disneys convergence with social media, resturants and pretty much every big company allows it to be inescabable.
  • Within the marketing, Disney uses their charactars, therefore making it instantly recongisable and encoraging people to rewatch their films

  • Disney being a global conglomerate, allowing their products to be watched on a global scale, evident with their being a DisneyWorld in America and France.
  • The company was started in Hollywood which is the centre of the film industry, with the most popularity.
  • Therefore, from the start Disney was given good oppurtunities for the company to thrive, and given resources which allowed them to operate internationally.
