  • He is said to have had nervous breakdowns because he struggled to come to terms with his sexuality

  • He developed the Combined Programming Language(CPL)
  • CPL is a direct ancestor to the language C that is used today.
  • He also developed the concept of time-sharing in 1959

  • Strachey programmed the first ever music performed by a computer, a rendition on God Save the queen
  • He developed one of the first video games which was a game of checkers for the Ferranti Mark 1.
  • He was instrumental in the design of the Ferranti Pegasus computer.
