Within this book there are three main characters who are Grace, Maya, and Jouaquin. They are all siblings but they did not meet each other until very late in their lives.
Grace is 16 so she is the middle child between her two siblings. When she was a baby she was adopted by a wonderful family. However, Graces live has not been that great. She got pregnant at 16 and put her dear Peach up for adoptoin which she felt was the right thing to do. The father, Max, did not want anything to do with the baby and niether did his parents. Thankfully, Grace's parents were very understanding. Ever since she gave birth to Peach on homecoming night she has felt like a piece was misssing. She was actually the one to get in contact with her two siblings which started a whole new jounrey.
Maya is 15 and the youngest of the three. Her adoptive family is wonderful and wealthy. After she was adopted they actually had a baby so she had another sibling. H name is Lauren. Maya has a wonderful girlfriend named Claire who she goes to everything for but when she is scared she shuts Claire out. Maya's parents do not get along and her mom is an acholic. Not only that but they are all redheads and she is a brunettte so she feels very out of place.
Joaquin is the oldest of the siblings being 17 and almost 18. His whole life he has been in the foster care system since he has yet to be adopted. However, he has been with one family for about 3 years. Mark and Linda treat him well and he thinks of them as parents. In the time he has lived with them he has even had a girlfriend, Birdie, but they had a very bad breakup leaving him heart-broken. His foster parents want to adopt him but he is not sure if he wants them to due to things that have happened to him in the past. He does not know anythng about his past and he does not have pictures from his childhood. Joaquin feels its better for him to shut everyone out so he only hurts himself instead of others. The only person he opens up to, but barley, is his therpast, Ana. Ana has helped him through a confusing 3 years of his life.
Each character has their own conflicts and then together they have conflicts.
Grace: Her conflict is trying to cope with the loss of Peach and living a normal life. She is also trying to figure out how she feels about Rafe.
Maya: Her conflict is trying to open up to Claire more, dealing with her pest of a younger sister, and dealing with her overwhemmling parents. Also in her family she stands out just a little to much.
Joaquin: His conflict is dealing with the years of of being mistreated in the foster care system, opening up to the people who love him, and finding a way to find out where he belongs. He also does not know anything about his past when everyone else seems to know.
Together: Their conflict together is trying to figure out who they are and who they are together. They also want to know more about their birth mom.
When Grace gives birth to Peach on homcoming night when Max, the father, is getting crowned homcoming queen. Afterwards, she is very upset and decides she wants to know more about her bio-family. She then discovers she has two siblings that she decides to contact
She contacts them and they all get along great. She purposes to find their mom but niether of them want to. Grace also meets Rafe. They meet up every Sunday.
She finally convinces them to try and find their mom so they all go together one Sunday.
When Maya meets Grace who looks like her and she feels like she belongs. However, Lauren her other sister feels like Maya is leaving her behind for a whole new family. Maya and Claire also break up.
All of the siblings get along great but things go south when Lauren finds their mom lying on the ground bleeding from her head. Their mom is then sent to rehab. The siblings meet up every Sunday.
They all decided to try and find their mother one Sunday.
Jaoquin has lived with Mark and Linda for 3 years and within those years he gets a girlfriend names Birdie but they break up because she has a childhood and she does not. He then gets contacted by his two sisters who he agrees to meet them.
They all get along but Mark and Linda offer to adopt Joaquin. Joaquin freaks out. The siblings meet up every Sunday.
They all decide to try and find their mom one Sunday.
I was not sure about the climax. It could have been at two points. One point would be when they meant their mom's sister and found out that their mom was dead. Another point would be when they used the key to open up the box at the bank. In the box were pictures from Joaquin's childhood. (I actually cried when that happened but you would have to read the book to really understand why that was such a big deal.
Joaquin- He got adopted by Mark and Linda. HIm and Birdie started talking again. His pictures from his childhood were put on the wall.
Maya- Her and Claire get back together. She visits her mom in rehab who is going to come home soon.
Grace- Her and Rafe begin dating. She finally visits Peach after 6 months.
The theme of this book is family. Family is people who will always be there for you no matter what.
