 BORN: August 5th 1930 in Ohio.

 DIED: August 25th 2012, aged 82 years old.

 He flew a plane when he was only 6 years old.

 He flew on two missions: Gemini 8 and Apollo 11.

 He retired from NASA a year after the Apollo 11 mission and became a Professor at the University of Cincinnati from 1971 – 1979 became a business man.

 Neil Armstrong’s footprints could be on the moon for millions of years, because there is no wind on the moon to blow them away.

 On Apollo 11, Neil was mission commander.

 He was accompanied on the Apollo 11 mission by Buzz Aldrin (the 2nd man on the moon) and Michel Collin (but Michel didn’t land on the moon but orbited it in the Apollo capsule).

 The 2 stayed on the moon for almost a day.

 Neil’s famous speech was: “That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.”

Neil Armstrong helped design the 'North American X-15' Rocket plane, there were only ever 3 X-15s ever made. The first X-15 flight was on the 8th June 1959 and nine years later was retired (1968).
