There are times / get ahead of God / exclude

when it comes to trials and tribulations

Our unwillingness to wait/rely upon God

to guide our decisions can lead to sinful choices

These choices often/if not always

lead to negative consequences

I recently used the classic example of Adam/E

They wanted the knowledge of good/evil

so bad they were willing to risk their lives for it

In actuality if they would have waited on God

He would have given this knowledge

in His perfect timing

Recently Pastor B was teaching in 1 Sam

Israel wanted a king like the rest/neighbors

God told Samuel to warn them about

what was in store 4 them if they got/wanted

Despite God's warning...

1 Sam 8:19-20

19 Nevertheless the people

refused to obey the voice of

Samuel; and they said, “No,

but we will have a king over us,

20 that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”

PB pointed out how they already had a King

judge them, go b4 them/fight their battles

They had the most perfect version of this

in God Himself

There's no harm in wanting these things

They just didn't want God to be a part of it

We too can make the same mistake of

getting ahead of God / excluding Him altogeth

when we navigate through these tough times

People dealing w/very stress/painful situations

or perhaps a traumatic event desperately

need comfort, relief, or a way to cope

Unfortunately, instead of turning to God

they turn to drugs/alcohol

This typically leads to even bigger problems and whatever form of confort/relief is fleeting

The main purpose behind stressful/painful

situations can most likely be described as an instrument used by God/draw us closer to Him

however/opportunity missed/not involving

People who are stressed w/ financial hardships or can't make ends meet can make decisions

that are risky or unethical instead of seeking

the Lord to provide AND open doors that will

lead to financial relief

Their choices can often cause an even bigger

hole than they started with

Many of our desired outcomes that lead 2 poor choices can be given to us by God if/avoid taking matters/our own hands/seek Him

It may take longer/but if we wait upon the Lord and allow Him to guide us, the results will be much better/won't include the negative consequences along with them

4 Delight yourself in the

Lord, and he will give you

the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person

who seeks Him.

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

28 Come to Me, all you

who labor and are heavy

laden, and I will give you

rest.

Familiar/Strip them of their power

Matt 6:33

Matt 11:28

Lam 3:25 NASB

Psalm 37:4-5 ESV

God wanted to give Adam/Eve knowledge

but they took it into their own hands

God wanted to give Israel a King that would

Judge / Go before / fight their battles

But Israel thought there they could do better

God wants to provide us with comfort/relief

God wants to provide 4 us and give us / need

But sometimes in both of those scenarios

we just need to get out of His way.

And in most cases when we don't, we end up

making the situation much worse than it was

Add more problems / dig the hole deeper

We have to guard ourselves from the temptation to fix our problems without God

He is always the solution

His results will always be a better version

of what we accomplish without Him

God doesn't need to prove Himself

But He will... Time and time again

Trust in Him, and He will Act

Thank you for your time
