I'm the older sister of five kids and on top of that I'm also a first geration student so everything I do is pretty much a lesson. I make alot of mistakes personally and academically but its something I'm able to tell my sister or my brother when they get stuck on something I messed up on. Throughout these challenges I was lucky enough to have a very well support system. I got so much help from my mom including majority of my friends and i never really spoke about those obsticles but I liked having that distraction and the motivation to keep me going.
Language and commuication is very important to how i use it in the world. My primary laguage is Engilsh, but i understand spanish very well. However, I'm not very flunet in it so when I have to speak to one of my peers or a customer it tends to make me very nervous. In the workspace its very important to know how to speak another language. I normally have no problem with speaking in general because when i was a cheerleader, my first coach was very strict and picky about how we talked. In cheerleading you have to be vocal and not scared to be "in the spotlight" so when I have to present I dont get as nervous because I learned to work under pressure. It taught me how to speak clearly and not stutter during a conversation.
I love to set goals for myself because it gives me an extra purpose to try harder. The ones who give me more reason is my mom and sister. They have always been some kind of inspiration to me and they support me in everything I do. Because I'm a first generation, I would technically have to figure everything out on my own so asking teachers or others that know more will help lead me to the right direction and understand how to manage everything. Understanding what I'm doing is the key to getting to where I want to be and help achieve my goals.
Change has been a big thing for me recently and i still have trouble adjusting. Many of my teachers are not using PowerPoint anymore and it's all I'm used to. So now I'm learning how to use knew things like Canva and Prezi, and they aren't that difficult. I've slowly been trying to understand how I learn so that I can make that change from high school to the university.
Family is very important to me because no matter the ups and downs I know that my family is there to guide me. Every single person in my family has impacted my life in positive ways. They encourage me and by reminding me how well I've always been in school and they way I dont let little bumps in the road bring me down. Even just watching how hard my family works motivates me the same way, so they have always been an inspiration to me without them realizing.
I have no problem with talking to my peers or people in general because I think I've adapted the fact that as a cheerleader you pretty mach can't be scared of anything. Being in college you have to do everything for yourself, meaning if you feel stuck or scared its important to know how to approach someone and ask for guidance. Other than the fact that when I'm lost I have no issue with asking for it but when it comes to conversations with other people its so facinating. Hearing about others lives and their dreams and goals is something i love knowing because in a different way it helps motivate me more. It also gives me another idea to reach mine.
