WHAT IS THE DISGESTIVE SYSTEM
- The digestive system breaks down the food we eat to use for energy, growth, and to repair our cells

- Mixes food with the juices from the pancreas, liver and intestine

- Recieves the undigested waste
- Absorbs water and remaining nutrients
- Changes waste product to actual stool

- Stool is pushed from the large intestine to exit the body throuogh anus

THE PB&J EXPERIMENT
THE PB&J EXPERIMENT
- First you take a bite and chew with your mouth.
- your mouth produces saliva.
- You swallow the PB&J and it goes down your esophagus to enter your stomach.
- Your stomach mixes the PB&J with stomach acid.
- Then the PB&J moves to your small intestine where it gets mixed with pancreas, liver, and intestine jucies.
- The nutrients are absorbed into the walls of the small intestine and then pushed down to the large intestine.
- The large intestine absorbs water and the nutrients that are left. Then the large intestine changes the liquid waste into stool.
- The stool is pushed from the large intestine out of the body through the anus.

- causes abdominal pain, diahrreau, rectal bleeding, weight loss, and fever
