In Singapore, the climate is typically tropical, with a lot of rain, steady hot temperatures, and year-round high humidity. There are not what we call typical seasons (i.e. spring, fall, winter, etc.) because it is so close to the equator. However, Singapore has 2 monsoon seasons and intermonsoonal periods. The amount of daylight is constant, and it rains consistantly.

Adapting to the Environment

Adaptation

Singapore is a small, low lying city-state surrounded by sea. Climate change will especially affect it. 1/3 of the central business district lies barely 5 metres over sea level. However, Singapore has erected seawalls, polders, and new islands as ways to adapt to the changing climate. Additionally, all roads have been lifted 1 metre off the ground. All fairly large buildings will be lifted 4 metres off the ground, with important government buildings and airports built 5 metres off the ground. All new buildings will be built 4 metres above sea level at least.
