They devoted themselves
to the teaching of the apostles
and to the communal life,
to the breaking of the bread
and to the prayers.
Awe came upon everyone,
and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
All who believed were together and had all things in common;
they would sell their property and possessions
and divide them among all according to each one’s need.
Every day they devoted themselves
to meeting together in the temple area
and to breaking bread in their homes.
They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart,
praising God and enjoying favor with all the people.
And every day the Lord added to their number
those who were being saved.
Acts 2:42-47

Is anyone in good spirits?
He should sing praise.
James 5:13
For me, prayer is a surge of the heart;
it is a simple look turned toward heaven,
it is a cry of recognition and of love,
embracing both trial and joy.
Saint Therese of Lisieux
Therefore, take these words of mine
into your heart and soul.
Bind them on your arm as a sign,
and let them be as a pendant on your forehead.
Teach them to your children,
speaking of them when you are at home
and when you are away,
when you lie down and when you get up,
and write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates...
Deuteronomy 11:18-20
Modern man listens more willingly
to witnesses than to teachers,
and if he does listen to teachers,
it is because they are witnesses.
Pope Paul VI
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened
and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight...
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them
in the breaking of the bread.
Luke 24:30-35
Food for the body is not enough.
There must be food for the soul.
Dorothy Day
Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.
For the measure
with which you measure
will in return
be measured out to you.
Luke 6:38
Providence will give us plenty.
