Doing salat brings us closer to Allah.
We should do each salat at its correct time.
Doing each salat on time shows that we follow Islam & that we have faith in Allah
Five times a day, the muadh- dhin (caller to
prayer) calls Muslims to worship Allah alone.
When we make salat, we stand facing the direction of the the Ka'bah in Makkah, the holy city and centre of Islam, this direction is called Qiblah.
Muslims can perform their salat individually or in groups - jamaa'ah . Jamaa'ah is an Arabic word. It means congregation.
Muslims can perform salat wherever they may be- in masjid, at home, at work or in a garden .
Before salat, we should make wudu.
We should not pray with dirty clothes and in a proper clothes.
The place where we do salat must also be clean.
The Prophet (PBUH) said, 'If there is a river at the door of any one of you in which he washes himself five times a day, would any dirt remain on his body?' When his Companions replied, 'None at al l,' the Prophet (PBUH) said, 'That is like the five prayers by which Allah removes sins.'
The five daily salawat are:
1. Fajr (Dawn)
2. Dhuhr (Afternoon)
3. Asr (Mid-Afternoon)
4. Maghrib (Sunset)
5. Ish a (Night)
Muslims should try to make sure that they always pray
at the right time.
Each Salat has its particular time. Each salat must be performed at or during its proper time.
The Qur'an has pointed to these various times.
The salat is prescribed for the believers at the appointed times.
Indeed, performing prayers is a duty on the believers at the appointed times.
There are different types of salat, but all salat have some common steps.
The five salawt are comulsaory ones (Fardh). This means they must be performed.
There are also sunnah salwat, and extra salawat. The extra salawat are called nawafil.
It is good for us to perform these extra salawat, these extra salwat are done before or after the five daily salawat.
