Where did the concept of heroes originate?
The practical word "hero" came from the greek word "Heros," since the first hero marked in history is none other than Odysseus, the main character from Homer's novel, The Iliad. Odysseus was a martial hero, a hero who trained to put his life in danger to defend his people.

A hero is someone who continually expresses bravery, moral integrity, courage, conviction, honesty, and self-sacrifice in order to protect/defend someone/something.
