CULTURAL FACTORS

Cultural Factors

THE INFLUENCE OF CULTURE TOWARDS BEHAVIOUR

Culture impacts behavior in different ways. Its influence is not reduced to a single line of action. On the contrary, it calls on different components and activates certain behavioral patterns.

Influence of Culture towards Behavior

Culture and Symbols

1. Culture and symbols

As humans, we create a collective reality, a world filled with meaning, interpretation, and feeling. According to Morales, to do this, we take elements of social life (gestures, posture, gaze, etc.) and turn them into symbols.

The influence of culture on behavior occurs through the symbolic representations that we construct and share as social entities. These expressions imply certain ways of acting. For example, when you see your country's flag and hear the national anthem, you adopt specific patriotic behaviors or attitudes that influence how you behave in that moment.

Culture and Norms

2. Culture and norms

The influence of culture on behavior is also observed through respect for rules. The rules and expectations that permeate a culture cause us to act in ways that confirm the principles that govern our lives in society Some provisions are prohibited.

For example, in some countries or communities, women are prohibited from working. Other rules are of a regulatory nature. For example, they can tell you what to do in certain situations, such as helping someone who has had an accident. Regardless of the type, these rules always tell us what to do and what not to do. This is how our culture affects us. Indeed, it guides how we behave. Culture and value.

Culture and Beliefs

3. Culture and beliefs

Cultural influence on behavior also occurs through beliefs. Cognitive behavioral therapy has repeatedly stated that the way we think greatly influences our behavior. So our beliefs trigger our experiences and actions. Cultural beliefs are taken for granted by most of us. They are extremely specific and address specific issues recognized by members of society. These beliefs force us to make judgments that, one way or another, influence our behavior.

CONCLUSION

A culture is made up of many elements, such as a society's values and beliefs. Culture is also governed by norms, including popular laws, customs, and traditions. The symbols and language of a society are essential for the development and transmission of culture. Our experience of cultural difference is influenced by our ethnocentrism and androcentrism.
