Description

Description

There was a wide variety of weapons used in the Battle of Old Baldy. The allies, led by american forces, made use of fighter bombers, heavy artillery, mortars, rockets, tanks, machine guns, Browning Automatic Rifles, and hand grenades among others. For the the Chinese, they made do with machine guns, artillery, mortars and other small arms. Hand to hand combat was also used by both the chinese and the allies.

The Outcome

Outcome

The Battle of Old Baldy was a costly affair for both the UN allies and the Chinese, not only in terms of financial cost of all the ammunition used but also the lives lost and the number of soldiers wounded. The United Nations suffered 357 deaths and the chinese suffered up to 1,100 casualties. However by the end of it all, it would seem logical to declare the chinese as the victors as they ultimately regained control of Old Baldy.

Significance

The Battle of Old Baldy did not have much significance on the Korean War. Mostly because after 5 major engagements in battle, nothing had really changed.
