The Day of Araafah

What is Arafaah?

The day of Araafah is on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah. Arafaah is also the second day of Hajj. On this day, Allah forgives many if they wish to take benefit from this.

What should we do on the day of Araafah?

The day of ARAAFAH should be spent in worship and supplication. For example:

- Read Quran

- Pray Nafl

- Fast

- Make lots of duaa

- Ask for forgiveness

How should this day be spent?

"The Prophet ﷺ was asked about fasting the day of Arafah and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the previous and upcoming years”. Then, the Prophet ﷺ was asked about fasting the day of Ashura and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the past year” [Saheeh Muslim].

On this day, people on Hajj make their way to Mount Araafah after Fajr Salaah and stay in prayer and supplication asking for mercy and forgiveness.

Dhul-Hijjah is the 12th month in the islamic calendar. It is a very sacred month as it marks the end of the islamic year. It is important to remember, since we follow the lunar calendar, Dhul-Hijjah is not the same month every year. (ie: June, July, August, etc.)

The History Behind Araafah

What is the history behind this day?

The day of Araafah marks the day when our prophet Muhammad (SAW) gave his farewell speech to the many muslims on Mount Araafah whom he preformed hajj with. During this time, it was nearing the last days of his life on Earth.

Zamzam

Zamzam

Zamzam is the blessed water where the source of the well is situated within Masjid-al-Haram in Mecca. The well is located 20 meters east of the Kaaba. Zamzam is one of the most enduring miracles in Islam.

Backstory

History of Zamzam

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) was ordered by Allah SWT to take his wife Hajar (A.S), and his son Ismail (A.S), to Makkah. Obeying the word of Allah SWT, Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) took them both to Makkah leaving them with some dates and water. After some time passed by, the dates and water had finished leaving Hajar (A.S) and Ismail (A.S) with none left. Prophet Ismail (A.S) started to cry in thirst, making Hajar (A.S) go searching for water.

She ran up and down the hills of Safa and Marwa in hopes of finding something. While this was going on, Ismail (A.S) started kicking his legs to the ground. Suddenly Hajar (A.S) began to notice water flowing from the spot Ismail (A.S) was kicking the ground. She started collecting some to feed Ismail (A.S). The word "Zamzam" comes from when Hajar (A.S) was telling the water to "Zam zam" (Meaning "Stop").

Health Benefits

Health Benefits

Zamzam water quenches the thirst and has the ability to treat a variety of illnesses. Zamzam has been shown to be effective against cancer in animal experiments, as it inhibits tumor growth. There are no moss, insects, fungi, or other pollutants in the water from the well. It has a higher concentration of natural minerals than drinkable water.

The Hills Of Safa and Marwa

Safa and Marwa

Safa and Marwa are the two Holy Hills situated in Makkah. In the remembrance of Hajar (A.S), in Umrah we go up and down the hills of Safa and Marwa 7 times. These 7 rounds of going up and down Safa and Marwa are called Sai.
