About Dogs

In General

Dogs have been in the family for centuries. These fluffy creatures have helped us hunt, herd, and are more loyal than any other pet.

Even though dogs come in many different shapes and sizes, they all have the same needs and wants.

Taking Care of Your Dog

Dogs need a lot of care, but here are some good tips

  • Brush your dog at least once a week (depending on how long their fur is)
  • Reward good behavior
  • Some dogs have dietary needs, so consult a vet
  • Make sure your dogs gets exersize, and doesn't over eat
  • Dogs need a lot of attention, so make sure they know that they are loved

  • Better with working on your time
  • Don't need much attention
  • Do alright in all sorts of living arrangements
  • Never really take directions
  • Not as much work but harder work
  • Do what they want when they want, doesn't really matter what you say

  • The dog "Toto" from the Wizard of Oz was played by Terry, who appeared in 15 other films!
  • The only totally barkless dog in the world is the Basenji (see right)
  • Greyhounds (fastest dogs) can reach speeds up to 43 miles per hour
  • Dogs can range from as small as 6 to 9 inches tall (Chihuahuas), to as

big as 29 to 33 inches tall (Great Danes)

  • Spotted tongues on dogs is caused by the same reason why some people have freckles! Left over pigment ends up causing spots on their tongues for dogs, like birthmarks and freckles for people. However if the spots on your dog look like dark mounds, that's not good.
