- Corruption: Harding assigned friends to his cabinet known as the Ohio Gang

- Teapot Dome Scandal: Albert B. Falls secretly allowed private interest to lease land with Navy Oil Reserves
- Attorney General Harry Daughtery was under investigation for a German/American company bribing American politicians. Daughtery would not testify under oath claiming immunity.
