What is GAS Strand?
General Academic Strand
GAS or General Academic Strand offers subjects from the three other SHS Academic strands: Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand, and Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) Strand. Students taking up GAS get to experience what each specialized strand has to offer so this is best suited for students who are still undecided on which strand to take.
What's Great About GAS?
GAS is commonly the go-to strand for those who are still keeping their college options open. But that’s not the only cool thing about this strand! GAS is flexible enough that you get a taste of various strands, but also specialized enough to offer unique subjects such as Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction.
What Can You Expect?
Just like the other strands, the GAS Strand poses its own set of challenges that you will face. For one, you might be expected to become a “jack of all trades” who is adept at STEM, HUMSS, and ABM. Not to worry! You will meet various types of people who bring their different strengths and perspectives to the table. Surely, you are bound to learn something new from the math wiz, the artist, or the artista who is seated next to you in class!
