Assessment Task 1

Prepare an original resource for a specific audience (i.e. parents/caregivers, teachers, pre-service professionals) on a chosen area of literacy. Examples of possible resources include: multimodal brochure, webpage, video podcast, song/rap interactive infographic poster, game, an informal text/reader, zine.

If you have already completed EDF3032 - you may choose to do a resource that is attached to the book you prevoiusly created for AT2. Examples of possible resources include: a webpage or game, or a simple game with a tutorial on how to get children to create that same game (think Pong).

2. A word document which outlines: 

  • Your rationale for why this resource is important. 
  • How you imagine that your resource would be used as part of your teaching. 
  • Scholarly references and links connected to your readings, class discussions, as well as additional scholarly research found via your own independent library/journal search efforts.

  • Be based on sound theoretical ideas and/or evidence-based practices.

  • Provide the reader with a descriptive context for the implementation of the resource and practical application ideas.

  • Include a range of impactful and inclusive ways to help your targeted audience understand how to develop knowledge and skills in your chosen literacy area when working with a child.

  • Be reflective of innovative ideas consistent with current research-based best practices in your chosen area of literacy.

  • Be accessible to the targeted audience and presented in a professional manner.

Students may choose to complete this assessment individually or in pairs (i.e. a group of no more than 2).  Expectations for pairs will be higher, as students will be able to capitalise on their partner's strengths while working collaboratively on the assessment task.
