Cornwall Assessment

eHealth Overview of Cornwall

  • Cornwall Health profile
  • Population, life expectancy, causes of death
  • Care Sector Business and Skills Analysis
  • Technology infrastructure
  • Current eHealth sector

Goal = Identify the minimum requirements for the care robotics market

Challenges

Challenges - Care Robotics

Needs assessment

  • Acceptability
  • Main challenges for robots

Goal = Perceptions of stakeholders towards care robotics and working to generate a receptive market.

  • Understand where and how robots can be used cost effectively

Barriers and Enablers

Barriers and Enablers

  • SMEs and Startups to develop technology in Cornwall and to work in the healthcare sector
  • Interviews
  • Survey

Goal = An assessment of the current potential to develop or deliver robotics

Barriers and Enablers

Change Perception

Change Perception

  • Outcome of my work
  • It's possible to develop technology.
  • By setting examples
  • SMEs diversification
  • Startups

Goal = SMEs believe it's possible to develop technology in Cornwall

Change Perception - Base Line

  • Measure change
  • Survey for Barriers and Enablers
  • How difficult (1) or easy (5) is it to develop devices in Cornwall?
  • How unlikely (1) or likely (5) would you diversify your business activities by developing devices?

Goal = Measure impact of the project

Eco-system

Eco-system = Tech Cluster

  • Support and Sustain - Developement of Ehealth robotics
  • Creating the right actors for the market
  • Startups
  • Network
  • SMEs
  • health and social care professionals
  • Support new ventures
  • Setting up a distribution channel

Goal = Build a stronger eco-system that will continue beyond the end of the project.

Tech Cluster = Market actors

PhD

Objective

Objective

Create a care robotics sector in Cornwall

Objective

An Action Plan for the development and deployment of a care robotics sector that will sustainably support healthcare.

  • Identify the potential enablers and barriers for sustainable use of these technologies.
  • The work will involve live deployment of robots in the health sector as well as interaction with a range of stakeholders including systems developers, care receivers and care providers.

Objective

An Action Plan for the development and deployment of a care robotics sector that will sustainably support healthcare.

  • Deliver a range of recommendations and non-functional requirements, both generic and sector-specific, that will facilitate future systems design, development and deployment.
