Who can enroll in FastPass courses?

  • Eastern University traditional undergraduate students
  • Students enrolled in Eastern's AA program, ACED program, our non-traditional undergraduate programs in Youth Ministry and Business
  • Esperanza students
  • Students from outside of the Eastern community (since Eastern's summer tuition is also reduced to $350/hr, comparable to community college rates)

How many students will I teach in a given section?

  • All FastPass courses will be capped at 20 students
  • For every student enrolled between 21 and 25 students, the instructor will receive additional prorated pay for the course
  • If enrollment reaches 25 students, a second section of the course will be opened
  • The primary instructor will be given the option of first refusal to teach the additional section of the course

#3

Does Eastern own my course?

Yes.

Why should this not concern me?

  • Eastern has always owned the intellectual property of online courses.
  • This is how the course can be made scalable if there is high enrollment.
  • This practice helps ensure the quality of our online courses.
  • This is common practice in higher ed

How do we do this well?

Clear & Organized Instruction

1

“When students experience greater exposure to clear and organized instruction, they perceive their faculty as being more invested in their learning and development, and they report being more academically motivated and engaged in their studies. Moreover, students who enter college less academically prepared benefit more from exposure to clear and organized instruction”

(Roksa, et.al. 283-284).
