Cell Cycle Project

Lili Covington

Interphase

- G1:

- cell grows and organelle number doubles

- S:

- "Synthesis" phase

- DNA replicates (copies itself)

- G2:

- cell continues to grow

Interphase

Prophase

- nucleus disentgrates

- chromatin (spaghetti-like DNA) condenses to form chromosones

Prophase

Metaphase

- nucleus fully disentegrated

- centrioles spin longer spindle fibers which attach to chromosone's centromere

- sprindle fibers line chromosones up in center

Metaphase

Anaphsae

- centrioles retract spindle fibers and chromosones are turned into sister chromatids

- chromatids are pulled to opposite poles

Anaphase

Telophase

- nucleus reforms around the DNA

- cell pinches off and begins to tear forming a cleavage furrow

Telophase

Cytokinesis

- cell pops apart forming two identical cells

- chromatids unwind into chromatin

- nuclei are fully reformed

Cytokinesis
