How VR Works

Virtual Reality (VR) Components

  • Devices such as Virtual Reality headsets HMD (Head Mounted Display), smart phone, console, and joystick.

HMD (Head Mounted Display)

HMD is a display device mounted on the user's head for VR.

It displays the virtual world at the user's view after blocking it from the outside. There is a microphone, a stereo speaker and various sensors.

PROS & CONS

ADVANTAGES

  • Unrealistic experience

The biggest advantage of VR is that it does not suffer from space-time and physical constraints.

You can go anywhere in the world but still be in one place.

ADVANTAGES

  • Entertainment and Gaming

In combination with gaming and entertainment

VR can turn watching a screen into living an experience.

ADVANTAGES

  • Training and Education

military training

medical training

VR provides ways of learning or training for situations that carry life-or-death risks in the real-world.

ADVANTAGES

  • Training and Education

In some situations, VR provides the only safe environment in which to gain advanced or basic skills.

When VR and education are combined, it is more than twice as effective as the regular teaching method.

ADVANTAGES

  • Help and Healing

VR is used to create actual circumstances that gradually enables individuals to tolerate disabling stressors.

IMPROVEMENTS

Lack of content

The gaming content is low -resolution which creates a low-resolution experience.

IMPROVEMENTS

Time constraint

When it comes to the development of VR it takes time on the company’s part.

IMPROVEMENTS

Cyber Addiction

With all things technology there is always a possibility of addiction and with virtual reality individuals do not only become dependent but begin to blur the line between what is real and what is virtual.

COST

COST of VR

Oculus Rift

The cost of Virtual Reality machines such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR are between $399-$2000 CAD. Usually VR machines are new to the market and is sold more as an accessory with the phones in case of Samsung, when you buy a Samsung phone (S8+ or higher generation) directly from the website not vendor or network provider such as (AT&T, Rogers, Bell) you would get VR set with it.

HTC Vive VR

Future

Vision

Future of Virtual Reality

A VR company Virtuix is in the midst of developing their Omni virtual reality solution which allows for a complete 360-degree movement of the body on a frictionless pad, which gives the user a complete full body experience within the virtual world.
