The Mighty Miss Malone, focuses on the struggles of a black family during the great depression. It gives me a better insight into racism, including the passive aggressive discrimination that the family goes through. It also gives me an insight into the struggles that people in poverty face, and how they might have gotten in that situation in the first place.
I would recommend this book to parents, elementary teachers, and younger kids. Though it's very eventful, "The Mighty Miss Malone" is easy to follow, because its more focused on the emotions and thoughts of the 12 year old main character. The story is also affected by a few historical aspects like the Great Depression and prevalent racism, in an easy-to-digest way. This book can be read by anyone, and is a very touching story, so I highly recommend it.
