Who are Greenwood and Foden?
Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden are both English
professional football players. Greenwood plays as a
forward for premiere league club Manchester United and
Foden plays as a midfielder for premiere league club Manchester
City. Both Footballers play for the English National team.
Why are they seen as negative role models?
In September 2020 while away on International duty with England in Iceland both Greenwood and Foden were caught trying to sneak four girls
into their hotel rooms. Not only is this not setting a good example to younger children about how to act as young rising stars it was a breach of the COVID-19 rules that were set.
At this period in time COVID measures were taken very seriously, due to
them breaking the rules they were sent home back to England and were fined £1,360 each from local police.
Both the players and their clubs came out with statements
apologising for what had happened and saying how disappointed
they were in the players. Both players reputations as youngsters
in the sport were effected as a result of this.
