Harvest Camp Songs
In this video Lana Del Rey is trying to get away from the helicopter this can represent AWOL's. They are trying to get away for the juvey-cops and hind without being bothered. In the song, she says "Everyone can start again" which is what the AWOL's want when they go to the graveyard. Also, "Loving you is hard, being here is harder" can pertain to the unwinds with their parents.
Even in the title of the song you can get a feeling for what the song is about and how it relates. The song states "All these feelings that I used to have are dead inside me". The unwinds may feel this before they get unwound because they are metaphorically dieing. Also, "Looking at for ourselves in a place where we're all lost." At the harvest camp the unwinds are lost because they know that they can't live and be themselves anymore.
On the ride to the harvest camp this lyric "You're lovin' on the psychopath sitting next to you." And "You're lovin' on the murderer sitting next to you." In a sense the staff at the harvest camps are murder while the unwinds aren't loving on them the message is what matters. The unwinds that aren't tithes are kind of like heathens in a sense.
This song can help unwinds at harvest camps know that they are alike. Furthermore, "'Cause I got issues, But you got 'em too." This can help bring a sense of peace to the unwinds on their last days. Knowing that the have some to relate to can help achieve acceptance of their faith.
The AWOL's ""Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me, Away from all of reality." When the song said "Nowhere to go and no place to call home" The AWOL's when they ran away from home they lost the only place the knew to be home.
The lyrics "Welcome to the final show
Hope you're wearing your best clothes." When the are heading to the chop shop this would be a perfect song to play. Many kids try to "You can't bribe the door on your way to the sky." It doesn't work because the staff doesn't care about the unwinds.
In the song, "Losing feeling's getting old
Was I made from a broken mold?" This may be a question that a unwind may ask themselves on their to a harvest camp. In addition "I don't wanna be you anymore" is what many unwinds may say on a daily basis.
AWOL's may say to themselves "All we do is hide away, All we do is, all we do is hide away." This makes the process of getting to the graveyard hard because they have to run and hide at the same time. "All we do is chase the day, All we do is, all we do is chase the day." To escape fast and efficiently they have to make to most of the day.
The unwinds in the harvest camps can relate to the lyric "Oh, I hope some day I'll make it out of here." The AWOL's that are on the run can relate to "Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near." In order to escape being an unwind a place is needed to hide. So they are constantly on the move to hide one that is permanent and maintainable.
Most of the children that become unwinds are a "mess". This lyric "I'm a mess, I'm a loser, I'm a hater, I'm a user." It's widely believed by the other children to be a unwind you have to be one of those four things. In the eyes of a parents if their child is one of those labels unwinding them is what needs to happen.
