Legislative Branch

Legislative Branch

  • The legislative branch is closer for the population by making laws and attending our needs.

  • Legislative Branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which together form the United States Congress.
  • Congress consists of 100 senators two from each state, and 435 voting members of the House of Representatives.
  • Each state sends two Senators to represent their state in the U.S. Senate. In the House of Representatives, a state representation is based on its population, for example one small state can have one representative thus bigger states can have 50 representatives.

  • Requirements to run for the Congress:

- The Constitution requires that Members of the House be at least 25 years old, have been a U.S. citizen for at least seven years, and live in the state they represent.
