Agents Of Socialization Mind Map
Family is the first agent that I was exposed to and is the most important. As a young child my family was there to fulfill all my basic needs. They gave me food, water and love. As I grew older my life changed as my parents seperated and later on divorced. My parents still remain friends and I am very thankful for that. My family has helped shape my personal values and morals to carry on with me for life.
I grew up with two siblings, my sister Denise and my brother Luc.
These pictures are of me and my Sister and the one on the top is with my Dad.
Growing up not only was I influced by my parents but by my siblings as well. My siblings had a big impact on me learning to associate with others close to my age.
After family comes school. School is the first place where I was looked after by people who arn't my family. My parents were never strict with me or laid out many rules. School was where I think I learned how to respect authority and tolerate being told what to do. School also taught me how to meet deadlines, show responsibility, and follow academic expectations.
Since a very young age I have always found a group of people to hang out with. As a child I would often hang out with my neighbors and play outside. As I went into school this changed and I started to hang out with friends I was making in my class. Now in highschool I am always trying to balance school, work, and family to make time for my friends. My peers have an impact on many of the activities I do, my emotions, and how I act in groups versus when im alone. My peers can negatively impact me when I get into situations I shouldn't be in. On the bright side I know that I have friends to comfort me and help me during rough times.

Religion and Cultures
I wasn't really taught much about religion from my family. I remember learning about God sometime in my childhood from a close friend. I then started to ask my parents who God is and why we dont go to church. My parents explained to me that they arn't religious and encouraged me to decide for myself whether I wanted to be or not. I am not religious to this day but that dosn't mean religion dosn't have an impact on my life.
Mass Media
Mass media has a big impact on my life and almost everyone I know. Throughout my life I have always been able to access media outlets like movies, internet, social media, etc. Something positive about the media is it is a good way to connect with my friends and the world as well. A negative aspect is that I am probably spending way too much time on it. I dont think I could go a day without my phone and social media.
Its hard to avoid the media, its everywhere. Social media and other types of media can appear harmless but sometimes they can cause damage. The media creates trends and idolizes models and actors and creates beauty standards that can be unrealistic. The media also creates a base for judgement and voice on the opinions of world issues. This all has an impact of my perception and personal views on life. Here are some examples of what I see in the media these days.
I currently have a job and spend a lot of my weekends and week nights working. I work at Home Hardware as a cashier. I like the job and am glad I got it. School helped prepare me for my job because school taught me responsibility and how to follow tasks. My job influences my future career as I can take this as an experience and use it in my future.
