During the Middle Ordovician the tectonic plates move and set the stage for the mountains to be created. These mountains would later be known as the Appalachian Mountains.
The Trilobite is the most well known animal that survived many periods in the Paleozoic Era. Another animal is the Graptolite, they look like a jellyfish.a familiar looking animal is the Brachiopod, which looks exactly like a clam but is not. the final one is the conodont. It resembles that of an eel.
The two main plants that lived in the Ordovcian age were the Coral, which we still have today, and red & green algae, which we still have today
Blastoids, Byrozoans, Corals, many kinds of Brachiopods, snails, clams, and cephalopods first appeared in the Ordovician Period.
All of the major groups of the Ordovician Period survived, such as the trilobites, brachiopods, coral, crinoids and graptolites, but all of them lost important members. Some families of Trilobites disappeared completely and some of the graptolites almost went completely extinct.
