How Burmese Pythons Became Invasive

The Burmese Python came to Florida from Asia as a pet and most likely escaped or was released by its holders. The escaped pythons were introduced to the easily-adaptable environment and quickly grew and began eating a lot of organisms. Several species of prey have been extinct from these pythons in Florida. There are several laws about owning pythons and some countries even prohibit the ownership of Burmese Pythons.

Impact on the Economy, Ecosystem, and Humans

Car accidents have occured from these pythons, resulting in money being used to fix cars. The loss of the hunting abilities creates less money being used in Florida. Burmese Pythons also transmit diseases which damges humans and the economy. Burmese pythons result in less biodiversity and less organisms overall in its ecosystem. Predators also have to compete with the pythons over certain prey. Humans can also start to fear these snakes and that can result in the problem getting worse and worse. Burmese Pythons have an overall negative affect on the economy, ecosystem, and humans in Florida.
