The Mcdade Watermelon Festival is of course all about WATERMELONS. The festival consists of seed spitting contest, watermelon eating, and who has the biggest melon.

Watermelons are a fruit that can be oval or round. Watermelons have a smooth but hard outside shell that is decorated with colors of greens. Inside the watermelon is the red juicy fruit.

History of the McDade Festival

The McDade Watermelon Festival was firt created to help raise money for the local school that had been burned down in 1940 to provide the new school with metal chairs.The P.T.A. president, vice president, secretary, and the Home Demonstration Club noticed a contest in the Farmer-Stackman Magazine offering a $1,000 prize to the winning organizationd or group. The whole community agreed to take part in the contest, and so the McDade Watermelon Festival was created.

History- For the festival, the community decided to have watermelon as their main crop because it was the area's principle crop.

  • Wash board and the knife you will use to cut the watermelon, and dry.
  • Wash outside of watermelon and dry
