The Bluest Eye Timeline

# One -The MacTeers

Claudia is a strong minded, independent, and always has a different point of view of things. Frieda is also independent but is stubborn. Mrs. MacTeer is a good mother to her children and a good wife to her husband but can be strict at times. Lastly Mr. MacTerr works had and is protective over his family like any man should.

The living situation for the MacTeers isn't the best. They're poor. The house is old, cold, and green, reminds me of a shack. Claudia once had gotten sick and Mrs.MacTeer told Frieda to stuff the windows. Although they might be poor but they're still a family who loves each other

# Two - The Breedloves

Cholly, Pauline, Sammy, Pauline makes up the Breedlove family. Pecola is an eleven year old girl who is insecure and thinks she's ugly and thinks if she doesn't have blue she'll remain ugly. Sammy is a fourteen year old boy who runs away to cope with his parents arguing and family problems. Pauline is rude and cruel; she can also be mean to Pecola at times and works for white families to cope with being a mother. Cholly is a drunk; he goes home and fights with

Pauline. I guess you can say he's pretty violent.

I know I said the MacTeer family was poor but this is beyond that. The Breedloves house has three rooms but they're all in the same area. The living room, bedroom, and kitchen are called the front room due to it being so small. Everyone sleeps in the same room. The parents fight all the time which scares Pecolaand makes Sammy run away. The family has to get coal to keep warm.

# Three - The Moving of Pecola

Well, Pecola moved with the MacTeers because Cholly tried to burn down the house. Cladia and Frieda took Pecola in like they were all sisters. Claudia was a bit jealous because Pecola and Frieda shared a favoritism of Shirley Temple. Overall she came into their family like it was her own ( but better... much better).

The only hiccup they had was when Frieda gave Pecola some milk she gave it to her in the Shirley temple cup which was three quarts. Which made Mrs. MacTeer pretty upset. Mrs. MacTeer was fussing and hollering in the kitchen to Mr. Macteer . Other than that there were no more problems.

# Four -Pecola's Insecurities

Pecola has insecurities from genetics. She's insecure about her eyes, forehead, headline, eyebrows, nose, cheekbones, ears, and lips. Basically everything that makes up her face. Pecola gets it more from her father than her mother. _ecola gets picked on for not only her looks but her family situation which made things no better; most likely worse.

The classmates of Pecola ignored and despised her. The teachers would try not to glance at Pecola. Teachers only called on her when everyone was required to answer. Even Pecola's parents would say she was ugly. Pecola had this idea that if she got blue eyes then people would think better of her.

# Five - Cholly and Pauline's Fighting Problems

Sometimes the fights between Cholly and Pauline start from Cholly and they might start from Pauline. Once Pauline threw water on Cholly because he was drunk and she wanted him to get up and go get coal because she was cold. Which means Pauline started the fight.

Their relationship is toxic and could use some therapy. Some of their fights are unnecessary. They would fist fight and Cholly would hit Pauline back even though a male isn't supposed to hit a female.

# Six - Mr. Henry

Mr.Henry is a boarder at the MacTeers home. He’s mostly known for being a quiet and a steady worker. The reason the MacTeers had taken in Mr. Henry was because they needed the money. Mr. Henry was living with Miss Della before the macteers;she became too addled to keep up.

Mr.Henry picked at Frieda’s breast. Mr.Henry first told Frieda how pretty she was; then grabbed her arm and touched her breast. When Mrs. MacTeer found out she told Mr.MacTeer. The family waited for him. Oce he approached the porch mr.Macteer threw the girls tricycle at his head. And knocked him off of the porch. Although head got beaten up he stood and sang ‘Nearer My God to Thee’. Miss Dunion then came when everyone was quiet and told Frieda she might be ruined; it left Frieda scarred with fear.

# Seven - The Ladies Upstairs

Miss Marie is one of the three ladies that stay above Pecola; the kids in the neighborhood call her the Maginot Line. China is also one of the three ladies that stays above Pecola; she’s known for being a local prostitute. Poland is the third lady that lives above Pecola; she’s also a prostitute. They all treat Pecola with care and kindness. They would give her clothes and shoes.

Pecola would go upstairs to their apartment because her home life was awful.i guess you can say it was her escape. The lady's upstairs would tell Pecola stories and Pecola would sit and listen. These women somewhat brought Pecola joy.

Claudia’s Jealousy

Claudia became jealous of Frieda and Pecola for liking Shirley Temple;she was jealous of Shirley Temple because she danced with her uncle Bojangles. Instead of Claudia sharing favoritism or even faking to pretend like SHirley Temple Claudia would rather get the short end of the straw.

When Frieda had told Claudia about her being molested by Mr. Henry and where he touched her, Claudia thought about how she got everything last and she hadn't had any breast. I guess you can say Claudia thinks about herself before anyone else.

Pauline’s Upcoming

Pauline is from Red Alabama; she is fifthteen. Pauline had stepped on a rusted nail and it paralyzed her left foot. Pauline’s foot made her feel unworthy and insecure. Pauline also had imaginations of a man with no face or voice, just a structure of a body; she just wanted to be loved.

Pauline had met Cholly; he made her feel loved and took away her insecurities. Cholly and Pauline both decided to get married. Once they both had gotten married they moved to Lorain, Ohio. Cholly worked at a steel mill and Pauline was a housewife. After a while their marriage had started to go downhill. A little after that Pauline mentioned to Cholly she was pregnant. Pauline had Sammy, then twins 9 they passed away), and finally Pecola.

Pecola’s Raping

Pecola was washing dishes in the kitchen. It was painful when he removed himself from her because her vagina was tight. Pecola fainted and Cholly stood and limped around her ankles. Cholly left her on the kitchen floor with a heavy quilt on top of her. When Pecola woke up she saw her mother standing over her. Pecola then became impregnated with his child.

After Pecola had been impregnated she lost her mind thinking she had blue eyes. Pecola Hadn’t really had blue eyes; she produced a second personality thinking that she had blue eyes. Pecola talked to an imaginary friend about how she wanted blue eyes and now she thought she had them.
