Angora Rabbits are multicellular, like all other animals. They're eukaryotes.
Since the Angora Rabbit is an animal, it is made up of animal cells.
How does the Angora Rabbit produce energy?
Energy
The Angora Rabbit produces energy through food. Since the Angora Rabbit is a domestic animal, the food it eats is pet store food: commercial rabbit pellets with high amounts of protein and fiber. Angora Rabbits require lots of protein to aid with their constant wool production, and lots of fiber to protect them from wool block.
What is the life cycle of an Angora Rabbit?
Growth
Angora Rabbits, like all rabbits, are born vulnerable and weak. After 4-5 weeks however, the rabbit is self sufficient. Within 5-6 months the rabbit is sexually mature. Angora Rabbits usually live to be 5 years old or more (some even live to be 12 years old!).
The Angora Rabbit reproduces sexually and is capable of doing so after 5-6 months. Many people make money off of breeding these rabbits. The female must birth her first litter before she is 1 year old or else her pelvic bones will close up and she won't be able to have her babies naturally. Pregnancy usually lasts about a month and the average litter consists of 3-5 young. The Angora Rabbit shouldn't give birth to any litters after the age of 3.
What are some ways that Angora Rabbits have adapted to living with humans?
Angora Rabbits have been domestic animals (living as pets) since around 1765, when they were largely popular in France. In the 1920's they migrated to the USA and are now used mainly for their wool. There is not recorded information of Angora Rabbits before people began breeding them and keeping them as pets.
How do Angora Rabbits benefit humans?
Angora Rabbits are very beneficial to humans. Their main contribution is their wool, which is softer than cashmere. English Angora Rabbits are specifically bred to be show rabbits, first recognized by the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) in 1944. Angora Rabbits are very fragile creatures, prone to many diseases (skin infections, fly strike, etc.), and are therefore high maintenance pets. However, their wool brings in lots of revenue. Breeding them can also earn the owner money.
Angora Rabbits do tend to be treated poorly. Owners, instead of treating the animal as a pet, will treat is soley as a source of income.
