Sindy

Character Description

At the beginning of the film we don't see too much of Sindy, she doesn't talk in class and doesn't get into any fights, she stays with her small group and thats it.

Sindy is Cambodian, it was revealed that she was sent to a refugee camp with her family but she viewed it as a sort of prison, that had lots of effects on her, she isn't very trusting and she has strong opinions but she is kind hearted as shown when she gave Eva makeup when she was on the run from her gang and helped her get ready for school.

In one scene we watch as Eva and her boyfriend Paco stop at a gas station, Eva goes inside to find a man (Grant Rice) yelling at one of the arcade games, he then proceeds to try and get his money back but after the store owner refuses he storms out the door. Outside Paco aims his gun at Grant because they're in rival gangs, he shoots and Grant dodges, the bullet ends up hitting Sindy's friend, killing him, Grant then gets the blame because no one saw what had happened apart from Eva.

Because of this whole ordeal Sindy seems to hate Eva, but after the court case where Eva spoke out againist her gang and told the truth, getting Paco put in jail for murder, because she turned her back on her gang they're after her, she moves and has a hard time looking out for herself, Sindy realises this and helps Eva to fix her makeup in the morning and look acceptable for school, this action isn't big but it helps and it shows that Sindy is grateful for Eva telling the truth.

What can we learn from her?

What we can learn from her

From Sindy we can learn that even if you don't see eye to eye with someone if you show just a little kindness to them everything can change. After she helped Eva with her makeup they became friends, they weren't the closest friends but still being friends is better than hating each other. It may sound cheesy but it's true,
