At start, mid and end of semester have students do a self-assessment of learning skills. See posters link
On back of unit handout have 'checklist' of objectives/skills for students to self-assess as we do the unit, and as a study aid for tests.
Do more think-alouds for concepts such as balancing equations or using physics formulas.
