Life cycle assesment of water bottle(plastic)

Resource extractions

For the manufacture of plastic needed more of crude oil (the source of raw material). Oil extraction leads greenhouse gases which cause climate change, and also it releases toxics into the environment.

During the transportation and use of granules, some of the raw materials may enter the environment, including water bodies. Crackers pollute our rivers and oceans with nasty chemicals that can be toxic to aquatic animals and accumulate in the food chain.

При перевозке и использовании гранулята часть сырья может попадать в окружающую среду, в том числе в водные объе

Material proccesing

Production of plastic is a long procces, and it has useful and not useful steps. The first step is extraction of raw materials. Largely crude oil and natural gas, mixture of thousands of compounds need to be processed. The next step is - Refining process( transforming crude oil into different petroleum products). Oil spills contaminate soil and water and may cause devastating explosions and fires which pollutes land air and water if oil spills occur

Product manufacturing

Comparing to glass water bottle, PET bottle produce more than 100 times the toxic emissions to air and water. Serious accidents have included explosions, chemical fires, chemical spills, and clouds of toxic vapor.

Topic 4

Product use

In order for us as consumers to buy and drink bottled water, it needs to be distributed to stores. For that to happen semi trucks haul the packs of bottled water, producing pollution into the air. After drinking the water many of us unfortunateely do not give much thought as to how and where we dispose the plastic bottles, and often times that results in the bottles ending up on the streets, in our parks and etc. Many also find their way to out rivers, lakes, and oceans. Not only harming the ecosystem there but also make our beautiful planet dirty.

Disposal options

One of the best solution to this problem is to reduce using plastic bottles, however the least we could do is instead of bagging used bottles, place the it in a recycling bin or bin free of any confinements. Also instead of wasting money every time to buy a new bottle, we could reuse the old one by filling up water again, the way we will save money and help keep clean our Earth. Two of the most common solutions are reusing and recycling.

Collecting/processing

Collection/processing

If it's not recycled correctly they get into landfils using more land for waste, they can get into our water systems, oceans, water rivers. Special machines needs to process the used bottles which may produce air pollution

Disposal

Disposal

After we thrown our used bottle it usually end up in open dumps. It takes years for every bottle to decompose. Each bottle leaks lot of harmful chemicals into our environment. When a bottle breaks down into microplastic particles over time, some particles seeps into the soil and get into our waterways and polluting the ocean. The water bottling process releases with it a plenty of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Also it leads to hazard waste which has a harmful effect on earth and especially people's health

Title

Reflection

I would never thought that something that I use every day might have harmful impact on our Earth, water and air. Plastic water bottles seem useful to us but they harm the environment that we live in. The large amount of plastics from used bottles we send to open dumps and it ends up in oceans. It has become a real burder to our Earth, however we still have an opportunity to fix this mess by increasing the number of plastic bottles being recycled.
