Sea weed is one of the autotrophs in this ecosystem. It is a type of phytoplankton, which makes up all of these autotrophs.
Seagrass is very similar to seaweed, and is also an autotroph.
Algas is in most of the marine and freshwater biomes, and is present in the Arctic Ocean as well. This is one of the autotrophs that exsists in this ecosystem.
Shrimp are a part of a larger group of species called zooplankton that eat the phytoplankton. Since the shrimp are so small they eat the microscopic algae that is produced in the ocean.
Crabs are larger zooplankton, who eat some of the larger phytoplankton, such as the seagrass and seaweed. They also eat shrimp and algae. These types of crabs eat pretty much anything that they can get their claws on.
Polar cod are some of the most sought after prey. These fish eat seagrass and are eaten by many of the secondary consumers on this food web.
The ringed seal eats some of the smaller prey in this food web, and has many predators, including the polar bear.
Polar Bears are one of the apex predators in the Arctic. They eat seals and arctic foxes.
The greenland shark eats lots of the food in this web, but they are not short of predators either.
Squid are again some of the larger zooplankton. They also eat their fellow zooplankton, the shrimp.
Although both the Antarctic Flying Squid and the Giant squid are of the same species, the giant squid quite commonly eats the Antarctic Flying Squid. The giant squid does have predators however, despite its size.
Sperm Whale is a major predator to many of these species, but still isn't the biggest predator in the Arctic.
The Orca is also an apex predator in this ecosystem. They are a large predator eating all of the larger animals in this food web.
Decomposers are the final step in any food web, eating the dead and organic matter.
These clams are decomposers that take all of the dead/organic matter and compact it into pearls.
Bacteris are decomposers that are found everywhere, including the Arctic Ocean.
Fungi is also a decomposer in all ecosystems, including the Arctic Ocean. This type of fungi appears differrent in the ocean biome however, as shown in the image above.
The Arctic fox is eaten by most of the higher predators in this region. The fox does eat ringed seal, but only the pups because full grown seals are to large for them to attack, and full grown seals are actually their predators.
