The Axolotl lives in Mexico in Lake Xochimilco and in Lake Chalco. Lake Chalco no longer exists because they drained out the lake for flood control. The Axolotl population is decreasing because the growth of Mexico City.

The average length to a Axolotl is 15 to 45cm. A adult age is about to 18 to 24 months. There heads are wide and the eyes are lidless. They eat there food by suction. Axolotl also have different skin color and eye color.

When they first come out of there eggs they stay on

land when they are babies. Then when they turn to adults they go in the water for the rest of there life. They can also regeneration. Like lizards, you can cut off there tails and they will grow back. They also can regrow useless parts of the brain.
